For months following the release of my first published book, "One Light One Love" in 1993, a Beaverton, Oregon bookstore owner and psychic, Norman Baldwin said to me, you are supposed to write a little book! I always laughed and said, I will, yet did not have any idea how I would do this.
In May 1994, this same man did a Voyager Tarot reading for me in which I was guided to go to the Oregon Coast. Intuitively I knew I was being send to the beach to heal and to write. Two months later I returned to Portland with over 100 new poems in hand and began to prepare to publish my second book, "Long Long Ago" in collaboration with my friend and artist, Elsie Petrequin. She saw the new book in a square format. My printer assured me they could print a 6 x 6 book by printing it 6 x 9 and trimming the excess off. Weeks before going to print, I attended the monthly meeting of the Northwest Association of Book Publishers, of which I was a member. At the meeting I mentioned to my publisher and friend, Cheryl Long, that I felt my cost for the printing was higher than I wanted it to be. |
She said, "Your book is square where is the rest of it?" I explained that the printer would trim off the 3 inches of excess paper. Cheryl's immediate response was, "oh no, Honey, you never throw a little book away!"
Those words haunted me during my drive back to my office. The "Voice of God" had spoken to my heart. I immediately went through each page of my first two books. In one hour I had intuitively extracted 100 quotes from those manuscripts. I called the collection, The Little Book of Joyous Thoughts and commissioned my friend, Elsie to create the calligraphic art for the little book. One morning as I was faxing the title information to a distributor in North Carolina, my graphic designer, Carol Guthrie began excitedly telling Elsie and me about a television show she had seen the night before: ANGELS II - BEYOND THE LIGHT. "Carlos Santana was on the show," she said. "He said, when you do something for the Highest Good for all people, those are the fingerprints that Angels leave behind." "Angel fingerprints". Angel fingerprints," I repeated over and over again, feeling the beauty and magic of those words. "That is the name of the book!" Carol got "angel chills" and Elsie began giggling and said, "I can do that!" She picked up a piece of scrap paper and drew the calligraphic thumbnail design for the cover. Within days, the two books were typeset and laid out one on top of the other. Two thousand copies were printed, bound, cut and trimmed, yielding 2000 copies of Long Long Ago and 2000 copies of Angel Fingerprints. The prophecy uttered by Norman Baldwin was fulfilled, as I knew it would be. God works miracles in our lives when we allow Spirit to flow through us. |
